  1. A flannel-like fabric was found from Wales in the 16th century, so from the beginning, it became popular because of its warmth. It provided super protection against the chilled and drizzly winters of Welsh. The softer, warmer, and heavier cloth was produced of subtle and smooth yarn called the worsted thread. The French used to represent this cloth as Flanelle, and the German spelled it Flanell.
  2. In 1869, the flannel fabric showed up in the United States, and the Industrial Revolution took a speed. Laborers, who had long and harsh working hours were supplied with the flannel garments because of its warm material. Soon after that, it also became staple fabric for bed sheets and other household items.
  3. In the early 20th century, the flannel fabric got an image as the cloth of the manual laborers.
  4. In the early 1990s, popular bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana wore flannel cloth. And when the famous person wears such things, it becomes a trend. All the eager fans soon imitated the fabric, and the fabric was already on the ramps and magazines.
  5. Flannel fabric manufacturers created different fashionable materials with the flannel, and in 2010 the hipster culture became popular. The flannel fabric reached new heights of coolness.
